Gender Rights Awareness:
The Aman Vedika team has been instrumental in getting several civil society groups in the state to come together as a coalition to focus society’s attention on gender-based violence through the ’16 days of Activism’ campaign, reaching its message to at least 2 lakh men and women in the state in 5 years. Since this campaign also addressed men as a key strategy to break their silence over gender-based violence, organizations with men in key roles were also roped in to take active part. One of the important activities of this campaign was the Central Govt’s flagship program ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padao’ , effectively used to identify a total of nearly 250 plus girls at risk and out of school, and arranged for care and education in homes and hostels in and around the twin cities.
Aman Vedika’s response during the COVID 19 pandemic :
In response to the pandemic, Aman Vedika members ran a community kitchen providing 600 meals to homeless people and daily wage workers per day for a month. Our volunteers mobilised and distributed food packets to at least 300 homeless people per day through out the lockdown and for an extra month after that. With the support of Azim Premji Foundation, Aman Vedika was able to mobilise nearly 2lakh people in 75 slum areas to get vaccinated, apart from providing vital support to doctors and nurses.

During this period, they would be motivated to go to school.
